I’m Heather Sommer, a Los Angeles-based art director, graphic designer, and illustrator originally from Westchester, NY. My creative journey started at a young age where I would spend hours doodling with crayons in my high chair. My parents have always encouraged me to embrace my imagination, which has been a guiding force throughout my career.
I earned my Bachelor of Fine Arts in Graphic Design and Painting & Drawing from Purchase College, SUNY (Class of 2017), and shortly after graduating, I jumped into the design world. Within a few months, I landed a role as an Art and Photo Assistant at Westchester Magazine/Today Media. Over the next two years, I advanced to Assistant Art Director, where I directed photoshoots, designed page layouts, and collaborated with interns. This experience gave me a solid foundation in print design and taught me how to thrive in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.
As my career has evolved, I’ve worked with clients across various industries, from branding and advertising to digital design and illustration. Whether I’m designing logos, creating marketing materials, or working on digital content, I love being hands-on in the creative process. My goal is always to create designs that are fresh, intentional, and meaningful.
I draw inspiration from vibrant colors, bold visuals, and the connections I make with people along the way. I’m passionate about designing pieces that tell a story and make a real impact. When I’m not designing, I enjoy writing and recording music, fostering dogs, and playing tennis.
Ultimately, my mission is to create authentic, inspiring designs that connect with others, whether it's through branding, digital media, or illustration.
